One more choice to make!

The Let’s Make A Wreath book gives students a chance to choose decorations for a wreath, then see what the completed wreath looks like lighted and hanging up.

I went crazy on this one, with three choices of bow (gold, white, red), three choices of plant trimmings (pine cones, holly, poinsettias), and three novelty decorations to choose from (candy canes, gold stars, snowflakes).  If you remember your math, that’s 27 possible wreaths! The artwork is very realistic, thanks to my Bryce 3D application.  Students will almost be able to smell the evergreens boughs, and the candy canes look good enough to eat.

Versions in Several Formats

There is not much time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I discover each year, so this interactive version only comes in Classroom Suite® format.  But there is also a simple straight-line version, Making A Wreath, in Suite, My Own Bookshelf®, and PDF versions. There are custom IntelliKeys® overlays for the Classroom Suite activities and Dynavox® versions of the overlays, of course. See the Special Needs Access section on the System Reqs page for information on controlling the Classroom Suite version from PRC devices.

Don’t Forget The Art!

All the art is available for more on- and off- computer activities. With 27 finished wreaths in both lighted and unlighted graphics, you could do matching games, pattern building, which one is different activities, or play Remember.  There is also a clip art file, with the wreath decorations and a blank wreath. If 27 isn’t enough, you could do more combinations! The clip art file has extra holiday images, including a spruce tree and some balls to decorate it.  So here’s wishing you a very happy holiday!

Application needed: Classroom Suite, My Own Bookshelf, Adobe Acrobat
Subject area: Reading, Life Skills, Holiday.
Level: Grades 1-3.
